Constantine
Seldom has the question: “What is Hell?” been more appropriate. In uneven brilliant and ridiculous association, Konstantin turns left me intrigued, confused and wary. The recipe requires certain ingredients, which are convincing, and others who are bold, and others who are just maddening. In a bold, dynamic visual style that fuses film noir with the traditional elements of horror motifs, Constantine can be many things, but boring is not among them. This is not a timid film, but it is not very successful, either.
There, in an inherent danger in telling a story about angels, devils, God and Lucifer that it’s very easy to lose a significant portion of the audience. There is the reason why the sponsors are not named Dante shrink from the topic. Some will see it as sacrilegious. Others will see it as silly. Suspension of disbelief steep curve, and it becomes steeper when the film throws in elements of black magic and occult philosophy. One could think that the issues could not be more clear than in the battle between the forces of heaven and hell minions. But Constantine is a way to turn all that the dark shadow gray. Good and evil, it seems, is not as absolute as we would like to believe.
Damn! This water is hot! John Constantine (Keanu Reeves) is a reluctance hero. Cursed will see through the guise that tend to hide angelic and demonic creatures of human perception, Constantine knows that the battle between heaven and hell not some distant, unfathomable struggle. Currently playing in the here - and-now, in the souls of people, as its currency. In his youth, Constantine was overloaded his vision, and tried to take his own life. He was sent back, and tries to redeem his suicide, and buy his way into heaven, destroying demons. It does not work, but. Konstantin lack of faith as the angelic Gabriel (Tilda Swinton) constantly reminds him. Messenger of God, is not the only one to the bitter agony hero. In unsavory Balthazar (Gavin Rossdale) delights in the news that Constantine has terminal lung cancer.
Something impious thus comes. Satan’s son plot cross-over in the plane of the material in violation of all established norms. Thanks in Los Angeles cop, Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz), which can also be seen on the damned, Constantine was preparing to establish himself in front of the greatest evils of this planet knows. And, when it is expected that an ally has participated in the conspiracy, he was obliged to seek help from the most unlikely sources - the Prince of Darkness himself (Peter Stormare, without horns or other prostheses).
Saving the world is a thankless job. Just ask Constantine, while he looks for redemption, but not much. He figures that if he scores enough points to the sky, God will fade, and grant him for his sins unpardonable sin. (For those not familiar Catholic doctrine, suicides = direct, non-refundable ticket to hell. not pass limbo. do not collect 200 indulgences.) Although Satan ultimately reflected in banter with Constantine, God remains with the picture. One senses that if we glimpsed it, it might look like George Burns.
Konstantin core strength lies in its appearance. First-time director Francis Lawrence cut his teeth in the music video business, and he brings a lot of imagination to developing vivid palette. There is almost always something to see, regardless of whether that hellfire-tinged mirror reflection in Los Angeles or hedonic innards of a night club that meets those so angelic and the demonic beliefs. In fact, the film looks so good that it is feasible to ignore some of the scenarios in the ludicrous turn of events.
Just another day in LA Conspiracy is not one of Constantine assets. You can not think too much while watching the film or carefully constructed house of cards comes crashing it erects down. The raw material is the “Hellblazer” series of graphic novels, and the aim of this scenario is to reproduce the tone and point-of-view of the comic book. In the process, it seems that not all of the background was shoehorned in. It’s hard to say that leads to a gaping plot holes marring Constantine in the narrative road, but they are unavoidable, as Gabriel curved, clear speech.
Keanu Reeves, who filmed Constantine immediately after immersed in the Matrix effects, in the Neo mode. There are superficial differences - Konstantin less attractive and more cynical - but Reeves plays two spiritual families. Eventually, he had to complete the film Neo came to accept his role as the elected one. Rachel Weisz, looking for a good companion piece to its summary for Mummy flicks, it found. She attached a dash of class to the proceedings, arguing the case that sometimes good actors can rise above mediocre screenplays. In support of eclectic cast: Shia LeBeouf as Konstantin assistant, Djimon Hounsou as “neutral” club owner Midnite, Pruitt Taylor Vince as a priest, and Tilda Swinton in its most Hermaphroditic as Gabriel.
Constantine will be the strongest appeal to those inclined to bright comic movie, a book adaptation. It remains to be whether he will find its audience, and ultimately ignored by viewers expecting another tranche of Matrix or more traditional horror films.
