City of Rott

In zombies, as soon as Rodney Dangerfield horror movie icons, is back with a vengeance in the past few years. It seems every week is the new zombie flick on the video shelves or debuting in the local multiplex. As you can imagine, most of them very poor-only content recycle ideas Romero classic movies or attempt to be the grossest of the gross (until almost mandatory shot zombies ripping into pregnant woman ’s unborn foetus and chowing down on it), only Few of these films to bring something new and interesting in the table. Like slasher film before them, the opportunity to become a zombie filmmakers make movies, and hopes for a quick buck. I never thought that I would actually see the day when I said: “I am kind of tired zombie flicks”-but, well, I am tired of the type of zombie flicks.

All is not lost, though for every ten bad zombie movies, languishing on the shelf at the local Blockbuster, it is usually a good one. Or, in the worst case, a nightmare, which is much smaller than all the other crap there. In the best of all worlds, you could just find a hidden classic, which is there with the best in the subgenre has to offer.

City Rott, Frank Sudol ornamental in the animated movie zombies, it is not the Holy Grail of zombie flicks. It could be, and there are moments when it comes very close, but also the loss of focus during the second half of the film (and a plot twist that simply does not work) to keep his greatness, and instead plant it firmly in the field are very good.

And yes, you read that right - City Rott is the animated film. Do not let you leave this condition, though-this is certainly not a children’s flick, and it is obviously as mountains and over-on-top, as some of Italy’s greatest gut-munching flicks from the 1980s on. Sudol, of course, is a genre fanatic, and his movie is a labor of love, which shows just how much he enjoys zombie movies, and that such a warped sense of humor he had, as well.

The story focuses on Fred, a cantankerous old coot someone managed to survive the zombie disaster. About a year ago, a new kind of parasitic worm, as America entered the water supply. Once inside their host, the worms ate their way victims brains and turned them into flesh-eating undead member. Of course, without water, civilization collapsed. Fred did not seem too concerned, although all of this - that he really wanted a new pair of comfortable slippers. So, determined to find these mythical boots, Fred sets out with his friend-one of his walker, and it starts adventure that will take them around the city, bring his new friends (most of whom are dying horribly), and that he be beaten holy hell of a thousand or so shambling corpses.

Visually, the film has a fantastic art style. Sudol himself fully animated film aesthetically outlook is similar to a well-developed video games with the 16 - bit era (I am not thinking Earthbound - art style is not really all that similar, but the irreverent tone is certainly), it draws you in the story and keeps you interested throughout. My only real problem with animation, that most of the action sequences, as a little recycling Fred beats down a lot of zombies with his walker, and let’s face it… here as much as you can to make your head - crusing attacked with such weapons. Because of this, there is a lot of duplication of zombie deaths-just with different ghoulish faces being battered by the business end of a true friend Fred.

Sudol whether to resist this at the time of putting our hero get the pistol (or two-in a clear tribute to John Woo and Chow Yun Fat in the Hong Kong cinema cooperation), but how many deaths, as will be on display in the town of Rott, I can not help but believe that it would be a bit more interesting if Fred has used several other weapons to send its seemingly endless stream of enemies.

This is a relatively small argue. The biggest complaint you can level against the City of Rott is that it loses some steam in the middle. Sudol this great idea-to send a senior citizen in a world infested with zombies so he can find some new shoes, but not much more than that. This is a ridiculous idea, but it never went anywhere and not strong enough to sustain the whole 77 - minute feature. Adding in some new characters in the second half of the film does not help either-we’re Fred emotionally attached to the subject, and taking his offscreen (as inappropriate plot twist mentioned earlier), the film will not help in the least.

Despite these shortcomings, the city Rott This entertaining and mountains cartoon zombie. This aesthetically with the artistic point of view (all the more impressive when you realize that Sudol literally done everything here-from animation to vote for editing), and functions rather bashed in the bones and headshots to please even Lucio Fulci. With a little more attention and a few more ideas, it would be one for the ages. Instead, the city simply Rott settles for good. If you have an interesting zombie fan, check this one.
