Charlie’s Angels
When Charlie ’s Angels first hit TV airwaves in the 1976-77 season, he was a national phenomenon. Every Wednesday evening, millions of home sets will be tuned to ABC for further adventures of the three “legs” of a private investigator millionaire Charles Townsend. Despite the fact that cross-cutting popular television programme, he drew his greatest interest from two demographics: prepubescent women who saw angels as active role models, and after the fashion of men, whose interest is the Angels’ other … ahem … assets. his five seasons, Charlie ’s Angels flourished to live forever test limbo.
Originally, the angels - the three best in the memory of TV viewers watched the show old enough during its initial run - were Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith. Of those, only Smith remained with the exhibition throughout its run. Fawcett, despite the fact that is inextricably linked to the programme was only for one season. After a public salary dispute, it has been replaced by Cheryl Ladd. Jackson left after three seasons, first to be replaced by Shelly hack for the season # 4, then Tanya Roberts for the season # 5 Haq when not managed to capture public interest. To date, Roberts is the only actress to have the dubious distinction of both Angel and the Bond girl. With all these changes, which go for the series five-year term, it is not surprising that, 20 years later, Charlie has a new group of angels make it tender. (Plans for cameos by the original trio were scratched when Fawcett wants a bigger role than the other two, and Jackson refused to appear.)
Charlie ’s Angels approaches on the matter in much the same way that “Brady Bunch movie done. Planted With tongue firmly in cheek for the entire 98 - minute length of the film works at the same time paying tribute makes interesting of the first television show got dads and daughters in front of bonds from the set. Charlie ’s Angels is the camp - a film that openly acknowledged its questionable call and transfer it. however, unlike in the Brady Bunch Movie, Charlie’ s Angels not withstand his welcome. Tam something delightfully refreshing about brainless movie, which teases the audience with a jiggle and split explodes every combustible object on the screen, and gleefully overuses Matrix-style martial arts fight sequences. you have to be a hopeless curmudgeon not be made for some juvenile level of this picture. It works precisely because it does not have illusions about what it is or in the audience whose attention he was trying to arrest.
There is a conspiracy - not that many specifics of the issue. The group Angels - blond Natalie (Cameron Diaz), busty Dylan (Drew Barrymore), and leather-loving Alex (Lucy Liu) - incidental to the Townsend Detective Agency building Bosley (Bill Murray in the role came to the end of David Doyle). There, speaking in a remote location, disembodied Charlie (voice of John Forsythe - the only party returning from the series) to inform their employees about their new appointment. Their client, Vivian Wood (Kelly Lynch), suffered a disastrous loss - her best friend and boss, Knox genius for electronics, was kidnapped, presumably, its chief rival, for nefarious Roger Corwin (Tim Curry). In angels to save Knox (Sam Rockwell), and restore the stolen technology Corwin hidden deep in the ultra-secret repository. Of course, there are obstacles (too numerous to mention), the most dangerous of which is silent, unbalanced murderer, played with a single-minded determination by the always-loopy Crispin Glover.
It is difficult to say whether Charlie ’s Angels contains more scenes or outbreaks of flesh. Despite this, both of them are present in abundance. For the latter, there are numerous pictures of Barrymore and Diaz with plunging necklines and lift buttons. We see three stripping out wetsuits, but only from the back, and only to a point (this is, after all, the PG-13 movie). Finally, in a place that will have teenagers worldwide via stop-motion controls on the DVD player, when the movie comes on the disc, Barrymore takes nude tumble down the hill - although it is moving little too quickly and a little too light for gloomy We do that well. In the fight scenes, in which there are about a dozen, all actively borrow from “The Matrix” (with an occasional nod to the more traditional martial arts moves). In angels incredible leap distances in the air, landed with a spine-crushing force his opponents chest, and then disguising random velocity bullets. This kind of struggle is too interesting to watch, although it pales in comparison with a breathtaking lengths to which director Ang Lee takes it in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Nevertheless, it makes for interesting visceral edible eye candy.
In the film, the director, making his feature debut, entering the moniker of “McG” (short for Joseph McGinty Mitchell). He pumps activities visual and acoustic that makes Charlie ’s Angels kinetic experience, even for a few “slow” sequences. His approach, which seems ideally suited for video, music, working with this material, by its nature. The rapid decline and visual jokes (such as the hair flip “), working in film, as they might be somewhat distracted from the more serious nature. His choice of music intriguing, smeshivaya’70 s songs (most with the word “angel” in the title: “Angel of the Morning,” “Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel,” “Undercover Angel”) i’00 heavy metals in the soundtrack that never downstream transmissions.
Fortunately, the actors are all synchronized with the material. None of them is trying to play things too seriously or too broadly. Barrymore, in addition to one of the driving forces to get the movie made, this is probably the most light from the stars. Dias freely borrows from the Tam O Mary, in fact, although it appears (for lack of a better term) a little washed out. Liu, who reportedly has led to a set of tension, it is best when played part of a disciplinary dominatrix room full of sun-deprived engineers. As Bosley, Bill Murray in talent is not enough, but it is not Bosley and angels. Tim Curry Crispin Glover and correspond well to this kind lodged with Kelly Lynch, Luke Wilson, Sam Rockwell and Tom Green (aka Mr. Drew Barrymore) filling the roster.
Feminists have always discussed dignity Charlie’s Angels - whether it is exploitation of women and empowerment. This film is certainly not going to solve this problem, because there is a lot of it happen. It is a pleasure, however, challenged the action movie where the heroes are all women (a rare breed, indeed). Ultimately, however, Charlie ’s Angels too light for the promotion of a serious or introspective debate - and rightly so. Anything else would be a disappointment and waste. The film is just what it needs to succeed: trashy, dumb and flashy - in short, one of the guiltiest of pleasures multiplexers and achieve this year.
