Cellular
Cellular is almost perfectly executed “high concept” thriller that, as speed and Phone Booth, is using gimmicky installation, but the pace so hard that you have no time to dwell on the obvious implausibility of the situation. (It should be noted that Larry Cohen participated in the writing and how But cell phone.) When you step into the theatre to see David R. Ellis’ film, you either agree to buy on the premises or not. In the latter case, you have to look for another movie. W the first case, you drive for entertainment.
Old Time phones … take the licking, but keep on tickingJessica Martin (Kim Basinger) is a high school science teacher, lived a comfortable life in the not-described Southern California community. One day, after sending her son, Ricky (Adam Taylor Gordon), to leave the school, it is brutally interrupted normal. The group of bandits, led by continued Greer (Jason Statham), breaks into her house, kidnaps her, and brooms her to an unknown destination. Once there, she locked attic. There, in the phone, but Greer smashes it with the sledge hammer to make sure it can not be used to facilitate his escape. But the phone is not quite dead. By touching two wires together, Jessica is able to make calls to random numbers. When she gets Ryan (Chris Evans) on the line, there is something in his voice distress that holds hanging from his activities. First, he does not believe it, but he nonetheless agrees to take her story to the cop named Mooney (William H. Macy), who patiently listens to the story, but then distracted. As a result, Ryan is to help, when thugs in Greer, go to Ricky in school in order to add their boy hostage collection. According to Jessica about where to find her son, he eventually, in a race with the bad guys to see who can find Ricky first.
Any cell phone clich and you can imagine might come into play here: a dying battery, a bad signal strength, crossed signals ringing at the wrong time, and dropped calls. Because it is imperative that Jessica and Ryan, not disabled (it could not recover because the phone is not broken recruit, as a rule, and he could not call her because criminals will respond), cellular most of their profits by tension maneuvering Ryan around all sorts of obstacles that keep the word request with the active help from the police, looking for Jessica, and is trying to prevent her son and husband from joining it. (At one point he gets on the cell phone store where senseless traders tell him to take a number and stand in line while the “battery” warning light is flashing on his phone.) And when Greer becomes aware of the existence of Ryan, that when things start to get ugly. Cellular also contains other food on the action genre, including car chases, foot chases, shoot, the fighting and annoying character whose only role is to provide comic relief (Rick Hoffman).
Driving distractedThis while actually not a movie actor, so it is not surprising that there is no standby of performances. Kim Basinger and Chris Evans are adequate - they do what the script requires them, but no more. William H. Macy plays such a role basically it became known - reluctantly unlikely hero. All he really wants to do is to open a day spa, but circumstances force him to switch from a secret investigation that is associated with Ryan in a more-on-top climax. Jason Statham, a veteran “hard guy” from the British Film offender, perfectly cast as the main villain. It should sneer and cooling, the old, it is difficult to find someone more intimidating.
Cellular reliably entertains his 90 - minute working time. Using clever premise, the packages are much excitement in a short while maintaining consistently high level of tension. There time for the exposition, but not so much that it violates the decision too long. The storyline is well developed but not overplotted. Moreover, despite the fact that the cell phone is used as a multifunctional tool, it never does anything more than in the real world, telephone (ca. 2004) can do. He takes pictures and video, making calls, and the number of shops. And, as a device, I clipped to my belt, it can be as annoyingly inconsistent, as liberation. Cellular is a popcorn movie, but you may, ultimately gripping armrest before you emptied the bag. And do not forget to turn off your phone - if it rings in the movie, you jump two feet.
