Catch Me If You Can

Catch me if you can the closest director Steven Spielberg came to do comedy since 1979, when it bombed at the ticket offices of 1941. A jaunty caper film inspired on real events, Catch me if you can never takes itself or its subjects too seriously, and really funny contains more material than about 90% of the so-called “comedy” in multiplexers and these days . It also helps that two of its customers, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks, Spielberg has actors who can easily switch between drama and comedy. The result is a pleasant, though not ambitious holiday outing.

Catch me if you can some details fictionalized tale of Frank Abagnale Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio), who, aged between 16 and 21, was the most successful con artist in the world. Not only he has created as an aircraft pilot, a doctor and a lawyer, but he cashed in more than 2.5 million U.S. USA in the amount of counterfeit cheques. Now, nearly four decades after the downing, Abagnale is one of the main bodies in the field of corporate security.

Shortly after beginning his life crime, Frank finds himself pursued by FBI agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks). For many years, the two engage in a cat-and-mouse game with Carl always a few steps behind Frank. But, despite its many shortcomings in just missing Frank, Carl never gave activities. Meanwhile, the Frank often invents himself again, and sometimes because he needs a new cover to avoid capture, and sometimes simply because of boredom. But despite their wealth and success, it is a lonely man. His profound relationship with his father, Frank Senior (Christopher Walken, in a restrained and moving images), which he deeply respects. He puts resentment themselves selflessly mother, Paula (Nathalie Baye), who dumped his father for a more successful person (James Brolin). His loneliness makes it vulnerable to the sweet and to a veterinarian and Brenda Strong (Amy Adams), a nurse he meets in Atlanta hospital, where he is a doctor. He genuinely falls in love with her, but when Hanratty closes, it has to start again….

Catch me if you can crosses several genres, not neglecting its overall tone. There are some deeply affecting scenes, including the exchange in the bar between Frank and his father and consistency in the plane when Carl gives some sad news. There are also elements in the thriller, though a light, with the authorities often nearly Frank side, only to miss it. There is no doubt that, despite Frank in the illegal behavior, it is the hero of the movie, and we are intended to root for him. Leonardo DiCaprio in charm served him well; Frank is a charismatic and just like. On the other hand, Tom Hanks does not play a bad guy. In intent, Karl is not a very interesting man, and his private life remains largely unexplored. But he became trustee for the Frank, and, ultimately, even despite the fact that they are on different sides of the law, they develop a bond.

At 140 minutes, Catch me if you can a small length. Although, for the most part, he moves quickly, the final fifteen minutes long, and might not be necessary. In his attempt to redeem Frank, Spielberg may go too far, and let the film continue past the point where it starts from the pair. Nevertheless, one of the most memorable scenes occurs at that part of the film, as Frank bestseller through the glass, gazing into another world.

V’60 s impeccable period detail, but what else would expect from a Spielberg? The attitude of the characters correspond era. Today, it is hard to remember a time when airline pilots were treated with such reverence. Or when people were so easily deceived. That was before Vietnam and Watergate, and remembers that Spielberg. John Williams’ figure is more intimate and jazzy than his usual material, causing (intentionally) Henry Mancini.

That would be difficult to find a more stark contrast to the dark science fiction thriller Minority Report breezy than seek, as Catch me if you can. With these films at once, Spielberg underlines its terms as a director. Who else could do something as foolish and visceral as Jurassic Park, then follow it with a list of Schindler? Catch me if you can no such film that has been done to bring Oscar nominations. Instead, it was designed as an exercise in pure entertainment. In that goal, it succeeded brilliantly.
