Brother Bear

Brother Bear did not go down in the annals of the history of traditional animation, as a classic, but this is proof that Disney is still able to produce a pleasant, family-oriented animated films. This film looks and feels a bit like a refund forms Disney pictures has been done five or six years ago when he was still at the top of the heap animation. There, in the drama and comedy, the message of tolerance and brotherhood, as well as several songs sell the soundtrack. The end result is an enjoyable experience, which is more suitable for the family than for adults, unaccompanied young offspring.

The film takes us to the dawn of human civilization, the prehistoric and introduces us to three brothers: Sitka (voice of DB Sweeney), the eldest, Denahi (Jason Raize), an average of one and stormy Kenai (Joaquin Phoenix). After a large bear kills Sitka, Kenai avenges the death of his brother, eliminating the animal. At that time, the ancient spell makes Kenai in the form of a bear, and Denahi mistakenly believed that the Kenai killed Sitka. Thus begins the chase with Denahi hunting Kenai, which will soon befriends single mothers cubic meters, Koda (Jeremy Suarez). Cod talks too much, and can be annoying, but Kenai becomes protecting his younger companion. As soon joined by a pair of bears moose, Rutt (Rick Moranis) and Tuck (Dave Thomas), but keeps moving Kenai Denahi because it is only one step behind him.

One of the most fascinating things that Brother Bear need to expose children to the concept that there are different ways to view a single event, and that neither prospect is always objective. (Let’s call it Rashomon for the under-10 age group.) This occurs when Kenai kills the bear. From his point-of-view, it is the removal of a monster. But at the end of the film, we are exposed to another, seemingly contradictory perceptions. Moreover, in allegorical fashion, the brother of Bear advocates theme of racial tolerance and brotherhood. Here are men and animals, but even children should be able to connect to the real life situation.

Subjects may be darker than usual for a movie, but there are a lot of comic relief. The lion’s share of it is provided by Rutt and Tuke, which are in fact in the McKenzie brothers SCTV (up to the exaggerated accents Canadian, eh), in the form of animals. In the humor is broad enough: not so juvenile that adults will dismiss it, and not so complex that the children will not laugh. Phil Collins has several tunes. The target audience is likely to use this, but I think the film would have worked well (if not above), and without them. Brother Bear is not a musical, why throw in a few random songs, unless it is to sell more CDs, Collins to get the nomination “Oscar”, or what?

In animation itself is a middle road: not as excellent as Disney better, but much more visually attractive than the “quickie” Work films like Lilo and Stitch and The Jungle Book 2. Director, first-timers Aaron Blaise and Bob Walker, cut their teeth working in animation in the Disney store, so they know their stuff. Brother Bear is based on the traditional, hand-drawn animation. There may be cases where computers are used, but the results are not yet or obvious. I have a really lovely sequences, such as the large pictures of bears fishing for salmon dinner during the run.

He was widely that Disney intends to abandon the traditional animation in favor of three-dimensional, computer-generated type. If that happens, the brother of Bears will be one of the last of its kind. So, even though the film lacks depth and magic that characterized the best Disney animation, it is a fairly solid effort, we can find ourselves looking back on it with some nostalgic Tosca years, when this kind of motion picture moved into the “things Filmmakers used to do.”
