Blindness

One of those little things pop culture information, I am puzzled I know is that actor Joe Lando plays a white guy raised indians on TV show Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman. I do not know why I know that. I should not. I am not a big fan of TV. I never watched the show, and I think of Jane Seymour as Princess of Sinbad and the Eye of the Tigris, not Dr. Quinn. But, somehow, at the opening credits Blindness (1998), I saw Joe Lando name among Chinese cast and my first sight, “Dear god, I hope that he does not play the white man raised by Chinese.” Well, it does not. True, in Blindness, it is Chinese godfather. ”

This tepid dramatic thriller (and I use the word “drama” and “thriller” very bad) has escaped con, Patrick (Joe Lando), busting in the house of his ex-girlfriend Natalie (Vivian Wu-V Pillow Book), which is currently being married to his old best friend, Daniel (Han Jin-Hunt). Patrick and Daniel’s fathers were business partners. Patrick spent the past ten years in prison, he was convicted of parricide, which he accuses of Daniel’s father. Of course, a thin script never explains the ins and outs of that conviction, would only say, as Patrick was found at the murder took place somewhere rap. Patrick, however, contends that Daniel’s dad committed murder more than sour business.

Natalie is a very bitter and cranky wife. A real bourgeoisie, Natalie loveless marriage and wealth as to give it a lot of time to sit by the pool with a martini in his hand, icily sneering at her husband and antagonizing his blind mother (Vivian Wu-Dowager Imperatritsa’75 version), who lives with them. So, Patrick erupts, and appears on the eve of his revenge. While they wait for Daniel to get home, he asked his innocence to Natalie, and mother of plots and schemes to protect her son. Audience to be concerned about these four people, and churning mystery of the death of Patrick parents. We also believe that an elderly Chinese woman is blind and poison derringer in her room-just in case, I think.

Frankly, I think I saw more tension in the diaper advertising.

This low budget affair linked to the apartment. I almost think it was based on the play, but if viewed in a public forum Blindness risk audiences attack on cast and director. Several scenes show Daniel driving at work and in the operating room (he had one eye surgeon), but the scene is so disposable it painfully obvious they were created to try to escape and give the film some breath. I am there to support low performances, but it is so little life or imagination, I can not think of a single positive attribute.

At just under one hour and twenty minutes, he feels terribly soft, virtually the same exposure inflated several times. Writer-joke, and when Daniel Patrick for the first time face to face, Patrick said: “You did not seem surprised?” (as in “surprised to see me?” recall, Patrick should be in prison) and Daniel replies: “I knew it would happed sooner or later.” What? We believe it is logical to Daniel next time he saw Patrick will be after he made a jailbreak? He must be psychic.

One note performances all around, the worst of which is Vivian Wu, who plays Natalie unrealistic in the bitchiness even when she received a pistol to her head. But poor women burdened with a character who asks her husband, which he saved from drowning is better, his or her mother, and willingly sleep with the old ex-boyfriend/possible murderer minutes after he was cock a pistol to her temple and flirt with the raped her. In line with the rest of quality products, with some awkward edits and minuses of the development (as seen tape covers Wu in the chest in the PG-13 love scene), the direction is too clumsy.
