The Birds

Unusual Hitchcock movie in many ways, including that it is little hint of the plot twists, Birds of Hitchcock masterpiece entry at the end of the harvest of the 50 films in the monster. At least that is one way to look at it. Another example is, as a precursor, to the extent it was Psycho slasher-mania, that Stephen King-like nature of the threats have gone from the mind, as well as progressive mental deterioration, and eventually modest celebration, a lot of people who know us closely.

Tippi Hedren plays Melanie Daniels, the daughter of the owner of a newspaper in San Francisco. It is a little mysterious, and is becoming more so as the film progresses (it is home exhibitions all really Hitchcock Hero Bewilderment here). All that we know about it at first was that she loves birds, because we meet her in the poultry shop, as she waits for delivery in Mina bird. When she works in Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor), it is based on the opportunity to play what it thinks is a practical joke that poses as the bird shop worker. However, he knows who she is, and do not appreciate the jokes. Thus begins with the start of one of the oddest and most intriguing relationships committed to celluloid, and Melanie and Mitch court strange combination of hate, attraction and fascination with each other. At the emotions lead to Melanie following Mitch in Bodega Bay, a sleepy little seaside town 60 miles north of San Francisco, to deliver the lovebirds on it in a way that would make Rube Goldberg proud. But shortly after giving birth, a gull attack Melanie - a cooling portent of things in the future.

What made the most birds, in addition to the usual crispness in the direction of Hitchcock hands are oddities. First is Eraserhead-like abundance is a very, very long pauses and a shortage of dialogue. There are countless scenes in which characters will simply look at each other for a long time, even despite the strong emotional reaction, which usually cause other characters to ask what happened to them. It is as if Hitch was flirting with making a movie entirely free of dialogue, but we thought that might be too strange to be a commercial success. In any case, there is a bucket of successful experiments with more to communicate through silence than words.

Another thing that will immediately strike Hitchcock - and especially Bernard Herrmann - fans is the absence of a normal score. I strongly disagree with those who argue that there is no score, period. Rather, as Hitch has been experimenting with the lack of dialogue, Birds experimental music works - namely, musique concrete, which is perhaps best known through Stockhausen and John Cage. Here, Remi Gassmann and Oskar Sala who wrote part of musique concrete, which consists primarily of manipulated sounds of birds, which gives unearthly, surrealistic background at frightening the birds attack scenes.

There are hints, and I do not think that I am just pushing my interpretation critic licenses beyond a reasonable limit that Melanie has somehow linked to the attacks. There is a character remarks that the attacks started when she arrived with the lovebirds, which is true, and that it can be evil. In conjunction with its propensity to lie and its strong embrace of Hitchcock Hero with a sly look Bewilderment hypogastrium, you can even interpret it as a sort of demon or devil in human form, come to bring disaster on the small community. It is reasonable, Hitchcock leaves this question unanswered, and the first `end ‘(a Hitchcock characteristic is that he often works a lot) is a strong candidate for a direct influence on George Romero in the Night of the Living Dead, which also left many questions unanswered. On the other hand, the inspiration for Hitchcock in the movie is the actual news that the bird attack occurred for unknown reasons, and we might guess that a great intention is that the incidents are innocent and mysterious to human point view.

Home here, of course, the bird attacks, which continue to have the right to intimidate trousers leave many readers. If nothing else, you have to admire the ingenious direction that the shots features, such as school children running down an endless road of terror in the country and the nature of the decision not to seek refuge in the phone booth. Ray Berwick was responsible for the preparation of hundreds of birds, seagull, crows, etc. to do as they were attacking without actually harm anyone. While these scenes are incredibly effective, in my opinion, it is interesting to note how in the side that you can see clearly through `” consolidated consequences if you analyze particular shots. Furthermore, you can ’see through “effects linens, for example, where Melanie is driving or boating. I bring this issue to underline the fallacy of modern criticism cgi effects for the “false perspective”. All effects shots are fake looking, really, but, ultimately, we are consuming theater, and we must bring together our imagination, but, as we do in birds.
