The Ant Bully
In Ant Bully is very disappointing who hopes to turn to the recent decline in the quality of the cycle of animated films. In fact, the film may represent a new nadir for 3D animation. While it is enough to look at (though nowhere near as exquisitely post Pixar in cars), the plot - a cobbled-together stew of moralizing and pointless action sequence - is an insult to anyone with a more than second-class education. Young children can be in Ant Bully attractive, but almost everyone else, including parents forced to sit through the film will understand the difference between “family movie” and “children’s movie, and why the painting belongs to the latter category. How I long for the days of the quality of insect-oriented animated entertainment, as Antz and A Bug ’s Life.
Meet Lucas “Peanut” Nickle (voice of Zach Tyler), a stereotypical nerd. Mercilessly picked on neighborhood bullies, he takes his disappointment at the ants living in his front lawn, stomping on them and the flooding of underground caves with water from a hose. Few know whether Lucas that ants are not senseless UAVs - they are thinking beings who speak with the voices of Julia Roberts Nicolas Cage, Bruce Campbell, Regina King, Ricardo Montalban (who, not to mention the “rich Corinthian leather” even once), and Meryl Streep. When the wizard Zoc (Cage) notes miniaturization potion and pours it into Lucas’ ear, he declined to ant size faster than you can say: “Honey, I fell from a child! “Then he learns lessons in teamwork, diversity, and friendship with his mentor, Hova (Roberts), and its associates, Kreela (King) and Fugax (Campbell). This prepares him for cards with Exterminator (Paul Giamatti).
If your child needs a sermon about the importance of in-kind to others, the value of diversity and teamwork on the merits, The Ant Bully is the ideal choice. As a preacher of speed, it never stops grinding with a pulpit. (Option probably unintended message: Ants are our friends. we should not step on them.) Since small children are simply bored in the prattling of characters, even if they look like animated bugs, there are many inane sequence of actions that, as best as templates for video game than a movie. (Avoid leaping frog! Dodge flying insects! Outrun at Exterminator in toxic spray! Paraglide through the living room and nab a jellybean!). Six years may be enthralled; older viewers will fight the desire to take a nap.
This is a comedown for director John A. Davis, who previously functions, “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, at least, is not reasonable. Despite the futility of the script, Davis corralled a high-level panel votes to give Hollywood stars. Roberts (making his first work after pregnancy), Cage, Streep, and Giamatti are the most prominent names, but perhaps not surprising that Bruce Campbell, who is the chairman of the board of Ant Bully with its only juice. As swaggering Fugax, Campbell in the animated alter-ego is the ideal actor extension of the usual screen persona. Ironically, Davis went with the little-known Zach Tyler in the lead role, rather than, say, recruiting Dakota Fanning and ask her to speak as a boy.
In Ant Bully is a representative of a new, cynical approach that has emerged among animated film distributors. Let’s call it the Field of Dreams mentality: if you do that, they will come. Why confused with the mind, intellect, emotions, and when the children will be equally entertained quite images of colorful action, as well as compulsory forecastle joke? (In this case, this is happening at a time when the poor Lucas becomes his first taste of ant food.) is depressing to see how far animated films have fallen in such a short time. Is it only two years ago that “Incredibles flew, or three years ago that was Nemo swim? Now we are stuck in the personality-deprived child dropped so he can live in a world inhabited by a bunch of plastic ants. Forget Paul Giamatti. Someone call Orkin Man.
