Agent Cody Banks

It is impossible to talk about Agent Cody Banks without mentioning the Spy Kids series. Will this film, even if it is not phenomenal success of these films, Robert Rodriguez? Probably not - but even if he did, that does not change the fact that it mostly mediocre again various spy flicks.

Frankie Muniz stars as Cody Banks Front, in the 15 years that have just happens to be a member of the CIA. Recruitment through the top-secret summer camp for the best and, on the banks of normal existence (when we first meet him, he allowed unbridled vehicle from smashing into the oncoming train) was suspended when the CIA call him to a special mission. On to get close to the daughter of a famous scientist who works on nanotechnology for the movie James Bond-esque villain, Brinkman (Ian McShane).

Although the Spy Kids movies, and Agent Cody Banks are quite similar in tone, the main difference between them is that the former have been developed with more than just the children in mind - while the latter is not. There, a certain amount of predictability in glossy Agent Cody Banks, the film essentially plays like really long trailer. As Spy Kids series proved to be a movie with a lot of special effects and over-on-top stunt work, not necessarily sacrifice the characters in the process. All the characters in Agent Cody Banks, himself from the banks until the slightest support to the players is likely to exist only to further the plot. Banks’ brother, for example, is a walking cliche - said things like “what ever”, and are usually acting as if he would be more at home in a commercial for the Pops cereal. But, of course, when the script requires that help him, Cody, the kid on the merits of becoming a new man. The same can be said of most of the supporting characters - and even a few central figures. Angie Harmon, as the CIA handler Cody is particularly evident saddled with a story arc, and she initially resents Cody because of the children it was not what she hoped that doing, but you do not know, it eventually comes to like and even respect the kid. Agent Cody Banks never mistaken for subtle entertainment for children (and adults, for that matter).

Having said that, there are some elements in the movie that work. Among the actors, only Keith David as the director of the CIA managed to make any implications for the surface. In enjoy and insane glee with which he approached the role absolutely perfect, and his continued oppression in the name of clueless minion Rosychuk provides the film with its only laughs. The set design, smooth and shiny from inside the CIA in Brinkman’s massive mountaintop lair (which bears a striking similarity to the sanctuary of various Bond villains - although that was likely intentional), is quite impressive, and often more interesting to look at what all this is happening on the screen.

And, as for Muniz, it is not terrible, but there is almost no spontaneity in his work. Every step, and he is doing everything he utters fully assembled, we will never convinced that Cody is a separate character (instead of a pawn used for a tense plot forward). They did not deny that Muniz has charisma spare, but to do so very many members. Fortunately, he was surrounded by an impressive supporting cast - including sexual monster in Ian McShane and Hal Hartley regular Martin Donovan - offset by his constant mugging and grinning (several).

Agent Cody Banks only the loud and silly film that little children, like love - but this is very bad with the movie did not bother including any elements to appeal to the rest of us.
