After School Special

Although King brand found success with “Vacation” trilogy (2) 2002 in the “parties” when the team found a new direction: teenage comedy. Although “parties” have their moments, with a picture (such as “Dorm Daze” and “Gold Diggers”), have seen diminishing returns, and mostly went straight-to video.

“Just Legal” (originally called “After School Special”, and completed in 2003), apparently from, but manages to cast mines a few decent laughs from the material. In the flick deals Deacon (Erik von Detten), Fred (Tony Denman, “Sorority Boys”) and Matt (Daniel Foster), who have to get rich-quick scheme to make their own movies and the adult market data on the Internet.

Trio find a local stripper, Ashley (Sarah-Jane Potts) ready star, but do not go, and they, as planned, and have to hurry up production when orders roll thousands of teenagers worldwide. Meanwhile, Deacon, attention is drawn away from work when Naomi (Amy Smart, which I continue to believe, deserves a better role, especially after her turn to the “clinic”) is beginning to show interest in them.

The picture starts out with a few minor laughs, as a group put together their plan, but stopped laughs begin in the second half, when the picture could not bring together too many funny situations, to a group of bugs in the production process. There is the issue of the adult actor (Horatio Sanz), which wants to put a group of film business. Supporting activities include Tom Arnold and Saam Levin, the most recent of “Freaks and Geeks.”

Overall, it’s just an average adolescent flick with a direct-to-video production values. Nevertheless, it is certainly a substancial improvement over some other flicks, which were at King logo.
