The Spy Who Loved Me
Of the seven, Roger Moore James Bond pictures, The Spy Who Loved Me stands out as the best. Stripped of extreme silliness of Man with the Golden Arms and packaged in the style of action, namely, The Spy Who Loved Me, along with a number of Connery Bonds, as the aide movie representation of superspy Ian Fleming (though the script is not based on the novel in Fleming of the same title ).
For the first time in three films, Roger Moore is beginning to unearth the identity of Bond, and fatuousness of which was in March his later trips rarely asserts itself. This version is 007 suave, sophisticated, and just a little flat. He is well with wry humor and one-liners, and it seems reasonable, as a capable man action. ” In a nutshell, Moore did not Connery, but he recognizes that and not try to be something that he could not.
As usual, Bond chief nemesis is a megalomaniac. This time his name Stromberg (Curt Jurgens), and of destroying the world to fulfill his dream of creating and fills the underwater city. In the first part of his plan involves the destruction of civilization over the water in a nuclear holocaust. To that end, he steals the British and Soviet submarines with the intent to use them against the superpower nuclear capability. 007, together with his Russian counterpart, Major Anya Amasova, known agent Triple-X (Barbara Bach), send to stop it. There are complications, however, because, while the USSR and the UK are collaborating on the mission, Anya has personal grudge against Bond, and it makes it quite clear that she intends to kill him at the first opportunity.
In Spy Who Loved Me marks the first appearance Jaws (Richard Kiel), which would be 007 most dangerous and persistent opponent (he returned in Moonraker). So is the massive and powerful jaws that there is little Bond can do against him physically. On supervillain ideal, and it is a great pleasure to see how 007 survives collision with a black-toothed giant.
Barbara Bach will be a pleasant addition to the cast as the latest “Bond girl”. Major Amasova attractive, intelligent, sexy and dangerous (naturally). Her repartee with Bonds is the scenario with the usual attention to the double entendres and witty retorts (note especially the exchange van in the desert, where Triple-X 007 and trying to escape Jaws). There also appears to be a little more tenderness in these respects than is typical of Her Majesty’s most promiscuous agent … , but only slightly. After his wife’s death in late On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, it becomes clear that Bond has no intention of ever again becoming involved in a serious romantic seizure.
The second “Bond girl” from the movie Naomi, played by Caroline Munro. Her part, in fact, a small - it appears, looks good, utters a few lines of dialogue, and then tries to kill 007. Jurgens is adequate as the villain. There nothing remarkable about his activities except that it has a more low-key than the average Bond madman. Old friends, like Lois Maxwell (Moneypenny), Bernard Lee (M), and Desmond Llewlyn (Q) returned.
The most impressive moment in the Spy Who Loved Me comes in the pre-credits sequence. After a harrowing ski chase, Bond zips right to leave the edge of a cliff. Rick Sylvester was paid $ 30000 to do this trick, and it costs money, resulting in a movie kind of start that no other opening selected (before or after). It is the perfect lead-in Carly Simon rendition of “Nobody Does it better,” perhaps the most famous of all Bond theme. The rest of the action film, directed by Lewis Gilbert (You Only Live Twice), as well impressive scene.
In Spy Who Loved Me no shortage of gadgets. These include harmful cigarettes, ski poles ordnance, and, most impressive of all, Lotus spirit that flies, rather than acquisitions. But these toys are just a part of 007 appeal. Bond movies to attract audiences because they are solid pleasure - light, uncomplicated entertainment that does not require more from it than the viewer that he or she sits back and enjoys. Despite the recycled plot, The Spy Who Loved Me deserves its popularity as one of the most engaging Bond outings. Even those who swear the movie with Sean Connery departure might consider checking this one.
