300

Whatever may be another 300, it is doomed to become a favorite for a group of devotees. The size of the team will be whether it reaches the main acceptance or acquired cult status. Distilled to its essence, this graphic novel come to life - one of those rare cases where directors sought not only to adapt a comic book, but interpreted it to the screen. Both approaches are valid and have their own strengths, and 300 will not experience, it would not have clung to the hyper-reality images of Frank Miller’s graphic novel. In visual terms, 300 (Sin City, as before him), there is at the top, where comic books and movies overlap.

At its most basic, is a retelling 300 at the Battle of Thermopylae, which occurred in 480 BC Although the details are there in a legend, the facts are not in dispute: a lower number of soldiers Spartan (generally accepted to be 300), under the command of King Leonidas (Gerard Butler), held against vastly superior Persian force (estimated to be somewhere between 200000 and 2000000), under the leadership of King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro). Although the Spartans did not win this battle, they are doing a grave loss for the Persians, who contributed to the defeat of Xerxes’ forces a year later at the Battle of Plataea. To 300, directed by Zach Snyder, remaining faithful graphic novel, emphasizes mythology battle, and not seek historical accuracy. As a result, the texture is more like that in the battle of Helms Deep in Two Towers something could commit themselves to be nearer relatives, as well as military scene in Troy.

300 is about heroism in the face of insurmountable obstacles. It is a masterpiece of images, style and testosterone. In ode to masculinity and machismo, she charms the eye and gets the blood pumping. This heroic spectacle at its best. Expectedly, the film lacks the subtlety and ignores things like characteristics. As we learn more characters are types: Great warrior-King, The Wife Strong, The Treacherous Betrayer, The Dark Enemy. It should be recognized, however, that the essence of the film leaves little room for the three sides, and is not something that readers are looking for in any case. They get what they came for: a stirring up action / adventure tale that, as soon as he gets rolling, rarely takes time to catch its breath. Knowing about these Spartans did not detract from the exhilaration of obtaining blood there.

Snyder has dug deep into his bag of tricks in order to make the 300 that it is. His approach is not that unlike Sin City and Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow that he uses color desaturation and the blue screen background work to make the film look otherworldly. This film could just as easily occur in Middle Earth, as in ancient Greece. These people are the buff for the faith, with bulging biceps and chiseled chest. Women (or at least one woman that matters) are voluptuous. There is a bare butts (of the men) and unclothed breasts (men and women). This is a horn of plenty flesh. The film also translate into grief, but not as far as might be assumed. There are decapitations, and splashes of blood, but nothing happens, what can be described as a particularly shocking, terrible, or gut-wrenching. The images recall not only groups of Frank Miller graphic novel, but the picture of another Frank - Frank Frazetta, the fantasy illustrator, which gained popularity with the sword and sorcery fans at the symbols illustrating book covers various Konan during 1960 and 1970.

The cast is populated character actors - an effective approach because it will be easier to lose sight of the participants than it could be if they are readily identifiable. Gerard Butler, who plays Leonidas, is not a neophyte screen. He starred in the big budget productions as Phantom of the Opera and tombs II. But his appearance was unremarkable and that makes it clay in the movie “hands. His performance more than life, full of passion and energy - exactly what director ordered. Lena Headey plays Leonidas Queen, a woman of equal strength and passion (though is more restrained). Like Butler, it is often seen on the big screen, but rarely recognized. The cast is rounded with names like Dominic West, David Wenham (as a narrator, Dilios), Vincent Regan, and Rodrigo Santoro, as Xerxes. All are believable in this setting, no one immediately recognizable.

This is not the first movie based on the Battle of Thermopylae. 1962’s The 300 Spartans told the same story with a different approach. 300 indirectly based on the earlier film; Miller acknowledges that childhood obsession with “300 Spartans led to the graphic novel. almost all the time (with the possible exception of historical accuracy attempts, which is difficult when the facts are not known), 300 is better than the movie In the 300 Spartans. This is a more energetic, more characteristic features, and is more on a screen saver. This movie theater. Viewers deserve to dive into what he proposes.

Under Snyder (Dawn of the Dead), which are used to provide financing is that the 300 will change the way “sword and sandal” films were made and watched. To some extent, he was correct: 300 differs from any previously reached with the movie screen. Her larger than life characters, frenetic action sequences, lush visuals and unabashed embrace of a more-on-top nature of comic books will enjoy doing it in a way that is usually reserved summer blockbusters. 300 can not offer masterful history, in the traditional sense, but it is difficult to surpass as a spectacle, and that makes it useful to view all but the most squeamish potential audience members.
