28 Days Later…

At the end of the world is always simultaneously fascinated and repulsed people. No less an authority than the Bible devotes all books in recent days. And, since almost the beginning of science fiction, the apocalypse has become a popular topic. Indeed, one of the most popular science fiction subgenres (which gained popularity at the beginning of the cold war in 1950) is that in the post-apocalyptic survivors - an individual who lives at the expense of a disaster (often a nuclear war) and must make its way through the hostile environment that exists in its result.

Danny Boyle, director of Shallow Grave and Trainspotting, brought him to leave the center prospects in this story. Armed script written by Alex Garland, Boyle vision of humanity in the twilight of humanity wiped out, not by fire, sulfur, and the radioactive fallout, but also from disease. In life fall into two categories: with infected, which look more like zombies than mindless people, and survivalists who refuse to make plans, knowing that the “stay alive, as good as it gets.” In allegories nature film impossible to miss. And Boyle potentially affect such important issues as the important distinction between humans and animals, and whether people are natural killers.

The film starts with a brief introduction that explains the beginning of the plague (a misguided group of animals’ rights activists Liberation infected monkeys), and then jumps to 28 days with dramatically changed world. Jim (Cillian Murphy) awakens in an empty hospital where he was laid activity , unconscious since before the disaster struck. Odurmanen and disbelieving, he staggers into the streets and considers London to be abandoned. when he attacked by one of the infected a slavering, red-eyed, feral person whose only desire is to draw blood, his life was saved Selena (Naomie Harris) and Mark (Noah Huntley). they inform him about what happened, and, after the takeover, with Jim decides to visit his parents. Selena and Mark accompany him. Soon, the people joined by a middle-aged man, Frank (Brendan Gleeson) and his teenage daughter, Hannah (Megan Burns), and they elect to seek a group of soldiers led by Major Henry West (Christopher Eccleston), who argue that the answer to infection.

In the first half 28 days later it is a road movie, as Jim and his companions make their way from London to Manchester, using disused railway and faced almost constant attacks from roving bands infected. The second half was a more simple action / adventure. The film contains a significant turning point, and Boyle adeptly blends elements of drama with horror and science fiction. In fact, one of the things that sets this film apart from many similar endeavours film is its emphasis on the characters rather than action. The film develops Jim, Selena, Frank and Hannah in believable individuals. The situation developed in such a way that it seems almost believable, and as soon as he sets the rules, not deception. The film “villains” are valid reasons for acting as they do, and the end does not feel cheap or false.

When Boyle wants to shock us, he had no problem doing so. There, a small George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead) here. Several scenes in which attack infected truly creepy. One sequence in particular - in which Frank and Jim race to change tires while the group infected tirelessly approach - generates as much tension as any 2003 picture. After that, in the short term through effective character building sequence, in which the protagonists enjoy a picnic, and ruminating that, if anything, in the future it may hold. Suddenly, Jim and Selena became aware that the mantra of “just survive” is not enough.

I enjoyed 28 days later, though, I would be the first to admit that he does not do much that radical. This is better than most of the post-apocalypse stories because he cares more about the characters and their situations, as with the developing battles and consistency. Three of the main actors - Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, and Megan Burns - largely unknown on this side of the Atlantic. Two recognizable faces - Brendan Gleeson and Christopher Eccleston - are character actors rather than stars. Nevertheless, perhaps because of the relative anonymity of the artists, the ensemble works.

28 days later dark, uncertain quality video (it was shot on digital video significantly reduce costs and ensure grittier look), as well as the issue is known. But filmmakers confront these dubious quality of solid performances, intelligent script, and sure-handed direction. As a result, the movie that kept me involvement from beginning to end.
