Thematically, John Herzfeld, in fifteen minutes has nothing new to offer. Its various elements of social commentary - on the power of the media; country love to violent, lurid, “real life” TV fare, and the cult of stardom - all of which have been resolved earlier. Networks To Die For, and Man Bites Dog are only a few of the names on that preceded fifteen minutes on the road. Nevertheless, despite some flaws, the movie still works - primarily because he has the courage to do the unexpected. Some of the concepts can be recycled, but there is something fresh and ambitious about how they are represented. Best of all, fifteen minutes managed to develop some genuine tension, especially during the closing sequence, in which time, we are convinced that anything can happen.

Robert De Niro plays Eddie Flemming, New York City detective murder (certainly a big stretch for the actor). Not only a good cop Eddie, but he is also well-liked, especially through the media. He always seemed to be a statement or a bucket for the cameras, and its accessibility has made him a local celebrity. He also good friends with Robert Hawkins (Kelsey Grammar), the host in a newspaper TV show “Top Story”, and is involved in a serious relationship newswoman (Melina Kanakaredes). Eddie latter brings him on the grass of the fireman Jordy Warsaw (Edward Burns), which is investigating the fire, which was used as a cover for the double murder. But Eddie and Jordy begin to piece together the puzzle that leads them into odd-two Eastern European immigrants, Oleg (Oleg Taktarov) and Emil (Karel Roden), which killed people, and make home movies for their actions. There are moments when fifteen minutes travels to the realm of blatant satire, but after the tour in such Analyze That acquaintance with the parents, De Niro, at home with the translation tone. Oddly enough, his best scene is low-key, somewhat tender moment, as he gets ready to propose to his girlfriend - and then writes a note next to the ring. This is a bitter and touching.

I would like to heap similar praise the Lord Edward Burns, but sometimes-actor/sometimes-director merely adequate - no more, no less. In a supporting role, so Kelsey Grammar and Avery Brooks (both of whom are veterans of the long-running television - Grammar “Cheers” and “Frasier” and Brooks of “Spenser for rent” and “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”) are effective.
